Meet Dr. Michael Feurstein
Dr. Michael Feurstein was born and raised in New York. After earning a B.S. in chemistry from Binghamton University, he attended Rutgers School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Feurstein honed his skills in residency through a one-year General Practice Residency at St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx. As part of this residency, Dr. Feurstein gained exposure to Dental Anesthesia and completed a two-week operating room anesthesia rotation.
Dr. Feurstein was commissioned as a Captain in the U.S. Army and served for three years as a dentist. At Fort Bragg, he further refined his dentistry skills and completed extensive continuing education.
Dr. Feurstein then pursued specialization, and in 2020 he began the three-year Dental Anesthesia Residency program at the University of Pittsburgh / UPMC.
Residency gave Dr. Feurstein hands-on anesthesia training throughout the UPMC hospital system, including in internal medicine and critical care medicine, along with operating room general anesthesia and labor and delivery anesthesia. Dr. Feurstein gained extensive experience in the anesthetic management of patients with special needs and pediatric patients through his rotations in the University of Pittsburgh Dental School and UPMC Children's Hospital.
Dr. Feurstein practices the full scope of anesthesia, from moderate sedations to intubated general anesthetics. His prior experience as a general dentist enables him to understand and anticipate the needs of the dentists he works with. Patient safety is always his first and foremost priority.
Additionally, Dr. Feurstein is a staff attending for the dental anesthesia residency program at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center where he regularly teaches. Dr. Feurstein was recently elected to the Board of the North Suburban Branch of the Chicago Dental Society.
In his spare time Dr. Feurstein enjoys biking, gardening, and spending time with his wife and two young children.
Dr. Feurstein is a Diplomate of the American Dental Board of Anesthesiology and is certified in BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
